Shopping in the...classroom?

Ooh money! Bet that caught your eye!

わぁ～お金だ～！子供たちはたくさんの紙幣に釘付けです(@_@)

Last week, we did something different in the classroom. On top of the usual flashcards and whiteboard writing, we brought various items and paper money to conduct a shopping game. We stimulated a real-life shopping experience for our students, teaching them how to ask for prices and count money in English. Our students learnt useful phrases such as "How much is this?" and "I want to buy this, please." and had a lot of fun.

先週、私たちは教室でいつもと違うある事をしました。いつものフラッシュカードやホワイトボードを使った英単語の練習を終えた後に、私たちは買い物ゲームをするために様々なアイテムや紙幣を用意しました。
英語でどのように値段を聞くのか？そしてどのようにお金を数えるのか？を教えるために、実際のショッピングを再現して生徒たちに興味をそそりました。生徒たちは、「これはいくらですか？」や「これを購入します！」等の便利なフレーズを学び、とても楽しんでいました。

私たちの用意した商品は、帽子、ボール、本やサングラス等があります！























'Let me count my money...do I have enough?'
「僕はいくらもっているんだろう！？これを買うのに所持金は足りるかな？？」























'I'm hungry! I want to buy these grapes!'
「お腹すいたな～！このブドウが欲しいなぁ！」







































We love having fun in the classroom, and as spring is here, we believe that more fun is on the way! We will be away for a week of spring break, so see you in April! Have lots of fun, everyone! (:

私たちは教室でみんなと楽しむことが大好きで、春もすぐここにあるように今後ももっとたくさんの楽しいことを予定しているので楽しみにしていてくださいね(^^)v

Our tiny tots

At Raffles, we believe you're never too old or too young to learn English! Our most mature class is over 70, while our two youngest students are not even 2 years old yet. Starting young helps get kids accustomed to listening to English, and gives them a head-start when studying English in the future. 

ラッフルズランゲージスクールでは、英語学習を始めるのに年齢は関係ないと思っています(*^^)v
私たちのクラスで一番年齢層が高いクラスは７０歳以上の生徒がいますし、ラッフルズの中で一番若い２人の生徒はまだ２歳にもなっていません。幼児の頃から英語に触れると耳が英語の音に慣れるので、将来学校で英語を学び始めるときにとても有利になります。

Of course, the tiny tots require some assistance from their moms, who stay in the class and participate in the lesson, singing along with the songs, and joining in the games and activities. 

もちろんまだ小さな子供たちにはお母さんの手助けが必要なので、未就園児のクラスではお母さんも一緒に部屋に入り、一緒に歌をうたったりゲームや他のアクティビティーに参加しています。

A hungry mouse came to class today. He needs food! Tiny tots to the rescue!

今日は腹ペコのネズミがクラスに遊びに来ましたよ～(*^_^*)　食べ物が欲しいんだって！ちびっ子たちは喜んでネズミを助けに行きます。

The mouse is fed strawberries, pizza, mushrooms, eggs and sausages. What a yummy meal! He's all full now. 

ネズミはいちご、ピザ、きのこ、卵、そしてソーセージを与えてもらました。なんて美味しいごちそうなんだ(*^_^*)!!
ネズミはもうおなかいっぱいです。

 

Now it's the tiny tots' turn to be fed. It's snack time! Have you got any pizza in your lunch-box? :P

さぁ、次はちびっ子たちがおやつをもらう時間、、、スナックタイムです(^_-)-☆
君のお弁当箱にはピザははいっていたかな(^_-)-☆！？

After having a snack, the tiny tots make a collage on the outline of a letter from the alphabet. Today's letter is Q! Looking good! 

スナックタイムの後は、ちびっ子たちはアルファベットの枠に沿って貼り絵をしました。今日のアルファベットはQです！上手にできたね(*^^)v

 

Before the Goodbye song, the tiny tots play a game of chance with a giant dice. Whoever throws the pig will get tickled! 

さようならのお歌の前に、おおきなサイコロを使ったゲームをします。ブタがでたら、こちょこちょだよぉぉヽ(^o^)丿

Oh oh! Looks like someone's going to be tickled! :D

あぁぁ～ブタが出そう！こちょこちょされちゃうよ～！

After that, it's goodbye time. One last high five, and the tiny tots take off down the corridor. Until next time, tiny tots! :) 

さぁこれで今日のクラスはおしまいです。ハイタッチの後ちびっ子たちは元気いっぱいに廊下に走り出します(^^)

What? Wait...who in the world is Sally Smith? Is she from some strange species? No! A squad of students spawned Sally Smith during one special study session in our school. Here's a scroll of Sally Smith's swanky selections. 



 


















Students go in a round to come up with pairs of S-words within a specified time limit. One word has to be an adjective, and the other a noun. This sets their minds spinning and their sanity spiraling out of supervision, as they strain to spring up snappy suggestions as speedily as they could. The teachers had a lot of fun smiling and snickering at the students' stylish selection of S-words! (;

生徒たちは、Sally Smithと呼ばれるゲームをしました。 制限時間内に、頭文字がSの単語のペアを思いつかなくてはいけません。そのうちの一つの単語は形容詞で、もう一つは名詞の単語を考えます。
生徒たちはできる限り早くてきぱきと単語を思い浮かべなくてはいけないので、生徒たちはとても緊張し、少しパニックになって正気を失ってしまいます。
私たち講師は、生徒たちのスタイリッシュなS単語のチョイスにとても笑わせてもらいました(^O^)
