Do you know about the situation involving Hiroshima Dog Park in Hiroshima City in Japan?
About 500 dogs in Hiroshima need help. This is the biggest ever animal rescue project in this country. Hiroshima Dog Park shut down in June 2005 because business didn’t warrant its staying open. These dogs have subsequently suffered terrible mistreatment. They were not fed for many months/years on end(we don’t know exactly how long). Most of them were near death (more than 40 dogs had already died) when a volunteer group based in Osaka (Ark-Angels) stepped in upon hearing that the Dog Park had contacted the Hiroshima public health department seeking to euthanize all the dogs.(You can view the TV in Kansai and TBS news broadcast. The news was also broadcast by NHK, but it can no longer be viewed on the Internet.)
Oct. 16th 2006, the owner of Hiroshima Dog Park filed for bankruptcy with Hiroshima City, and Hiroshima City accepted it. With this, Hiroshima City decided NOT to charge the ex-owner under the law concerning the Protection and Control of Animals.
Ark-Angels would like to present a petition Hiroshima City for reconsider their decision. They are collecting as many names as possible. The deadline for submission is Oct 25th to Ark-Angels.
There are two petition forms, one for the mayor of Hiroshima City and the other one for the chief commander of Hiroshima Nishi Police.
The address for sending the petition to:
Ark-Angels
Toshihiko Hayashi
