I entered this university in April. I experienced many things. This year is a “challenges year” for me. For example, I started living alone.

It's all new to me. Cleaning my room and shopping, makings meals, washing clothes and sleeping. There have been lonely times and also funs times. But everything is a new lifestyle.

I study English and international communication in this school. But I didn't really get down to study, because I worked hard at a part-time job, got my motorbike license, and started going to another school. My other school is a photo school. I enjoy this school and learn a lot of things. I feel my growth everyday. Recently, I won the “kumisyashin” prize in my class contest. I was very happy!!

I think I want to challenge myself at many things since I have now graduated from high school. Because we only have one lifetime. I want to know what job will suit me well. So, I'll try many things. I will graduate from photo school in March, and leave my part-time job in February. I think I'll start studying harder at university from April. I have entered the Department of International H.C, and I want to study as hard as I can. I study English. I want to enlarge my world. We'll have many freshmen from now on. I want to use my experience to help these freshmen. But next year will also be a “challenge year”, same as last year.

I want to try snowboarding.
I want to try a new part-time job, either a wedding photographer or tearoom's staff.
I want to hold an individual photography show.
I'll enter my work in a photo contest.
I want to travel to a lot of places, and meet many people.

What do you want to do this year?

I think having a dream is wonderful. If you have a dream and join this university, I'll help you do anything. And study English hard with me. Looking back at last year, I think I should have learned more things. I'm really looking forward to meeting our cute new students at Kyoto Gakuen University.

『ドラゴン・イングリッシュ』の竹岡広信先生と対談しました

ぼくが実践している英語教授法「イミーディアット・メソッド」をワークショップで紹介する機会がありました。ワークショップには、あの「ドラゴン・イングリッシュ」の竹岡広信先生もお越しになり、興味をもってくださいました。そのあと、竹岡先生と、英語教育に関するディープな対話が実現！　対話の内容は、また後日、紹介します。

（告知です）学生の写真作品のギャラリー展示

人間文化学部で開講されている「アートギャラリー実習」の 履修生たちが、企画運営した展覧会が京都市内で開催されます。

学生たちが制作した写真作品が展示されるほか、 気鋭のアーティスト陳維錚氏とアンドレアス・クレシグ氏の 作品も個展形式にて紹介されます。

陳維錚　JuiChen TAN

現代美術作家、マルチアーティスト。マレーシア生まれ中国系人。1996年来日、3DCGアニメー ション、実験映画、インスタレーションや参加型パフォーマンスなど表現手法が多様。数多くの個展やグループ展を通じて、活発に国内外で作品発表。メディアアートのスキルを生かしたインタラクティブ(参加型)な装置とアナログな手法を融合した演出が特徴。一貫して「存在のリアリティ」を探求するコンセプトにより、実在の不確かさを気づかせる視覚体験が仕掛けられている。

アンドレアス・クレシグ　Andreas Kressig

メディアアーティスト。1971年パリ生まれ、ジュネーブ(スイス)在住。コンピュータグラフィックスの映 像、ビニール、電気部品など既製品を使用した光をテーマにした作品やリサイクル可能な素材を 使った手法など、インスタレーションの手段で視覚化する作品を発表。作品で使用される様々な素材は、媒介物として機能し、その場で成立する関係や効果を作り出し、独自の世界を見出して いる。ジューネブ、京都、カイロ、アルメニア、デュッセルドルフ他個展、グループ展を国内外多数。
