Thank you for visiting our blog.
This reporting is about the DOSANKO studytour carried out from 23rd of October to 3rd of November with8 participants who are DOSANKO members.
We visited in Chaurjahari hospital during the first half of the tour toobserve the activities supported by DOSANKO. Then, we moved to the earthquakesaffected areas to see the scholarship students.
Chaurjahari hospital is located in Rukumdistrict, part of western Nepal. It takes an hour by flight to go to main city from Kathmandu, and takes 7 hours byjeep from main city to Chaurjahari. If you travel by only bus from Kathmandu, takes about 22 hours.
There are public small medical clinicscalled ‘health post’ in villages of Nepal. People can take simple treatment. However, the services are limited that the patients have to go the hospitals of big cities for taking examinations and undergoing operation. Chourjahari hospital works as the corehospital in this mountainous areas to provide advanced medical services and torefer to the centeral hospitals in cities. The patients who lives rural areas visit to this hospital by walk. Some ofthem walk for more than 2 or 3 days, some come to be carried on their family’sback, or by many people with stretcher.
DOSANKO members had the time to observethe hospital and to help some works as making the gauzes. In the staying, they enjoyed to talk with thepatients and the families, and also met the joyful moment of birth baby!
After that, they visited to the mother’sgroup to know their public health activities. The mothers had meeting andregular checkup of blood pressure.
People in this area still face high riskof preventable infectious diseases because of uncompleted infrastructure as water supplying, life style, limited medical services, economical problem, andso on. We will continue to support the health ofcommunity people though the public health services of Chaurjahar hospital.
 As special episode…
DOSANKO members cooked Japanese food for thehospital staff. They prepared bread crumbs, eggs, oil,and pork,,, you got what was the dish. Yes, it was TONKATSU  Japanese friedpork! It was so yummy, the plates became emptyquickly.
Thank you all the members for making thisfun surprising gift during your hard schedule of this tour.
The second half of report is in next blog.
