Hello Everyone

The month of November. The students are starting to get busy in practicing their Christmas dance and drama. This year the mothers are also performing one Christmas song with a simple dance. The mothers practice day is every Friday from 9:30, for those who have time, please feel free to join.

Thank you to all the mommies and daddies who participated in the Potluck on the Friday of United Nations week. We had so much wonderful and delicious food! We would like to thank all the mothers who shared their culture with the kids.

Here are some important dates to remember for this month and next month:

NOVEMBER:
November 3rd (Thursday) ----No school
November 11 (Friday)----School outing
November 23rd (Tuesday)---- No School
November 24th ----Thanksgiving Day (No Lunch) Cooking day
November 25th---- Birthday Celebration (Yui and Shoki)
November 29th-30th ----PTC. Half day till 12:00

Hello Parents,

Fall is here. We are enjoying the cooler weather and the falling leaves! This is the Harvest Season.
As the weather is getting colder, Please do not forget to dress your children appropriately.
The themes for this month is Fall, leaves and fruits.

Dates to Remember:

October 10 (Monday) - (No School) Japanese Holiday

October 17-21 - United Nations Week

October 21 (Friday) - UN Celebration
*** Potluck (Parents are invited to attend from 12:00)

*** Please write the costumes and food for the students to bring on this day. Sign-up sheet will be posted on the bulletin board.

*** Please think about sharing something from your favorite culture to the class between October 17th~Oct 20th.(e.g. costumes, holidays/customs, money from the country, flags, language, animals unique in that country, common and easy to make food to share with the class, common childhood fairytales, fun children’s games/sports(basic rules; uniform; equipment, activities like origami,etc ). It can be anywhere from 15-30 minutes.


October 27 (Thursday) – Baking day. This time the children are going to bake Pumpkin Cupcakes.

October 28 (Friday) - Costumes Day and Birthday celebration

The powerful earthquake has shaken the northern part of Japan which affected a big part of this country.
For the safety of the students, the school made the decision to close down the following week after the earthquake. We thank you for your understanding and cooperation about this issue.

We thank God for keeping all the students, teachers and families safe. Let’s continue to pray for those directly affected by the earthquake that God ‘s provisions, comfort and peace will be with them through this time of disaster.

Despite everything, the parents and teachers have helped the students to return to their school routines. The school once again is filled with the liveliness of all the students.

We would like to welcome our new students.

Hello Everyone!

The weather is beginning to warm up. Soon it will be good-bye winter and hello Spring!!

It has been a full and fun February. The Children enjoyed cooking hot vegetable soup, baking valentine chocolates, doing counting activities to 100 for 100’s day, role playing nurse/doctor during health week and playing in the snow as well.

Thank you for to our dentist, Mrs. Nakata, for conducting dental check up for the children.

Here are the things to look forward to in March:

March 3rd : Girl’s day. The girl may come to school wearing Japanese Yukata.
March 17th St. Patrick’s Day- Wear green or you will be pinched!!
March 22-25 Spring Holiday
March 28th School Reconvenes

Changes to the schedule:
New date for the Slumber Party TBA for kindergarten and 1st grade.
PTC for Kinder and 1st Grade only for those who are leaving.

Students leaving for Japanese School:

Hello Parents,

It sure is getting colder. Be sure to keep warm! Can you believe it is already February?! The winter season has come upon us in full swing. Be sure to layer your children so we can adjust them to the varying temperatures (sometimes it is very cold at drop off time but sometimes warmer during playtime outside and even warmer inside during lesson times)!

Here are some dates to look forward to in February:

16th (Wednesday)-100 Days Celebration

**************Special Notes********************
 Please take care as it is cold and flu season. Please inform the school as soon as possible if your child has contracted the flu or other contagious disease.

 Preschool- Due to the nature of many of the daily preschool activities, please be sure to dress your kids everyday in clothes that can get dirty and stained!! ;D Thank you!

 Preschool: If you have not already done so, please remember to provide extra clothes in case of accidents, spills, etc. (also remember to replace extra clothes that have been sent home!).

 Pasta Friday-Please remember to also supply your child with a fork for the pasta. Parents, you have been great about remembering the plates!

Hello Everyone!!

Wow, can you believe it’s already November? The end of the term is almost here! Thank you to all the mommies and daddies who participated in the Potluck on the Friday of United Nations week. We had so much wonderful and delicious foods! It was quite a treat to taste food from different parts of the world. We also thank Tiahna’s parents (Australian), Roi’s mother (Israel),Saki and Rio’s mothers (Japanese), and the two Fijian Embassy Representatives who came to share their culture with the kids. The kids really enjoyed it!

We would like to thank Ms. Geila for donating an upright Yamaha piano to the school.

Welcome back everyone after a fun summer holiday! We hope you had a restful summer.

We would like to welcome our new students, Katie Hayward, Rio Uehara for our toddler class. Ava Kinikinilau, Karin Murakami and Tessa Hayward for our preschool class and Sae Sunada for our kinder class.

We also would like to welcome our new teacher, Ms. Kelly McCallum who is joining our GILC teaching team.

Dates to remember:

Sept 6 (Monday): Orientation day from 9:00- 10:00 AM.
This will be the chance for you to meet your child’s home-room teacher and to get to know other parents.

Sept 17 (Friday): Baking day, your child will bring home some baked goods. Enjoy!!!!

Sept 20(Monday): Public holiday, No school.

Sept 23 (Wednesday): Public holiday, No school.

Sept 24 (Thursday): Birthday Celebration.

Please feel free to invite your friends and family members to enjoy the Easter Picnic under the beautiful Cherry blossom. We will have a guest speaker from the organization “ Friends of Child Protection , which is based in South Africa. GILC will participate in supporting this organization.

Welcome back everyone! We hope that you enjoyed your Spring Vacation! We have a lot of activities planned, as we enter into our final semester of the year. However for this month our main focus will be Easter and spring.

Please remember to always pack a spring jacket for your child, even if it may be warm in the morning. This will ensure that if the weather changes in the afternoon that your child will be protected from the elements.

Also, another gentle reminder, please don't forget to send 2 boxes of tissue with your child during the first week of school.

We would like to extend a special welcome, at this time, to all our new students and their parents. We thank you for choosing Grace and we look forward to working with your children for the duration of the school year.
