elbow
定義:noun(countable)
the joint where your arm bends(=to move part of your body so that it is not straight or so that you are not upright)
補足:
More/All power to your elbow! = (略式)がんばれ;ますますの御健闘/健康を祈る(乾杯の言葉)
「ひじ鉄を食わす」は、elbowではなく、give/show/turn the cold shoulder to somebody
用例:
elbow grease = (informal)hard work and effort, especially when cleaning or polishing(=to make something smooth, bright, and shiny by rubbing it) something
You'll need to use some elbow grease to get that floor clean.

wrist
定義:noun(countable)
the part of your body where your hand joins your arm
補足:
grab him by the wrist = grab his wrist = 彼の手首をつかむ
前者は「人(him)」に焦点があるが、後者は「手首(his wrist)」に焦点があり体全体(him)に波及しないことが多い。
用例:
She had a gold watch on her wrist.

palm
定義:noun(countable)
the inside surface of your hand, in which you hold things
補足:
手の甲は、the back (of the hand)
用例:
She looked at the coins in her palm.
palm tree = a tropical tree which grows near beaches or in deserts, with a long straight trunk and large pointed leaves at the top
hold/have somebody in the palm of your hand = to have a strong influence on someone, so that they do what you want them to do
She's got the whole committee in the palm of her hand.
read somebody's palm = to tell someone what is going to happen to them in the future by looking at the lines on their hand
I asked the Gipsy to read my palm/hand.

thumb
定義:(countable)
the part of your hand that is shaped like a thick short finger and helps you to hold things
用例:
be all thumbs = (informal)to be unable to do something in which you have to make small careful movements with your fingers
Would you do up these buttons for me? I seem to be all thumbs today.
the thumbs up/down = (informal)when an idea or plan is officially accepted or not accepted
The project was finally given the thumbs up.
Her performance got the thumbs down from the critics.

finger

one of the four long thin parts on your hand, not including your thumb
補足:
the index [first] finger = 人さし指(=forefinger)
the middle [second] finger = 中指
the ring [third] finger = 薬指
the little [fourth] finger = 小指(=pinky,pinkie)
用例:
cross your fingers = to hope that something will happen the way you want
We're keeping our fingers crossed that she's going to be OK.

eyelid
定義:(countable)
a piece of skin that covers your eye when it is closed
補足:
a single-edged eyelid = 一重まぶた
a double-edged eyelid = 二重まぶた
用例:
not bat an eye/eyelid = (informal) to not seem to be shocked, surprised, or embarrassed
They started talking about sex, but she didn't bat an eyelid.
His eyelids began to droop(=close, because he was sleepy).

eyelash
定義:(countable)
one of the small hairs that grow along the edge of your eyelids
補足:
lash ともいう
用例:
flutter your eyelashes = if a woman flutters her eyelashes, she moves them up and down very quickly, in order to look sexually attractive
I began to flutter my eyelashes in a rather exaggerated(=if something is exaggerated, it is described as better, larger etc than it really is) way.
