I joined the book club on Sunday and learned about some interesting books from their introduction. One of them is about cats. It says that cats can live twice longer thanks to a new drug development. Most cats die because of kidney failure. It is said that the drug can remove waste matter accumulated in the body. The average life span of cats is 15 years. I wonder if the cats will be happy to live for another 15 years.

My friend shared a sad news to me. One of our other friends died of cancer. He was four years older than me. I have not seen him after he became a physician. He was a cheerful, strong minded, and positive person and always made us laugh. I am immersed in memories, in which he was still young and happy.

While I was brushing my teeth in the bath room at lunch break, one of my co-workers approached me. She told me that she will resign from the company next week. This is because the amount of the retirement bonus will stay the same regardless if she quits now or 4 years later. She already has independent means with savings and retirement bonus. I said to her, "You made a good choice. Find something nice that you will enjoy doing for the rest of your life. I also want to quit my job, but unfortunately, my situation does not allow me to do so. I will have to work until 65 years old... no...maybe 70."
