Yeah!! I'm done! Multicultural Party!

Thanks to all the volunteers and audiences, Lily and I were done multicultural party! I am so so glad that many people helped me.

Chihiro- Thank you for everything from the beginning to the end! I really appreciate that.

Ayami- Thank you for sushi making and supporting the back side works! THanks a lot

Akiko- Thank you for the violin! You were awesome, i hope you will get well soon.

Ami and Kaori- I asked you guys to dance just before the presentation, however, you guys did such a great job!

Megumi- Even though you just came back to Canada, thank you for bringing Yukata for us.

Kevin, Ram, Angie-Thank you so much for awesome presentations!

Lily- You are my best partner! thanks for Nan! Your husband is..yea. definately honey.

special thanks for audiences!
Thank you for paitience for my awkward MC and organization! Those who were involved with the events....you guys were great!

I learned that organization and leadership are really tough. An organizer needs time consideration skill, equipment and preparation, giving exact direction to the volunteers, flexible judgement, and definately confidence on carrying out the event...!

Although my presentation sucked (ahaha, i didnt have time to practice, just an excuse. but it was not so good seriously...he was there! even worse), I learned a lot of things from the event. I thought i should help others more. Now I have a confidence that I carried out the event from the beginning to the end. I think i learned as an important thing as or more than learning English.

So the next performance will be SAKURA!!!!!!
I am really worried about the piano or keyboard...

Shopping @Fairway Market

For those who do not live in Nanaimo....
The Fairway market is a common supermarket where a variety of Asian food is sold in Nanaimo.

Today i went to the market with Lily and her husband. She is my partner for Multicultural week's event. She and her husband, Nan, are still students but they have been married for two years. So, for the event we went to grocery shopping today.

We bought a bunch of stuff for sushi. Yeah, here we can buy anything for sushi (not raw fish though). The budget is only $50 but we spent already $37...oh i was very worried in front of the casher, however, Lily and Nan said to me,

"It's OK. Don't worry!"
Umm... Am i worried too much?? But i think i dont have enough judgement skill so I had no idea how much i should buy supplies for the event. IT's a drop-in activity so we are totally not sure how many people will come.

Well, every one please come to the event on Monday!!

You can get Free sushi!!!

ID Photo

Yeahhh, i went to take an ID photo for job hunting at Blacks photoshop in Woodgrove mall. I bought a white shirt at Suzy and borrowed a suit jacket from tourism's mate. I did full make up only today in Wal-Mart's bathroom.

I went to photo shop and a clerk took a photo for me. He said,"Do you want to check it?" Becuase it was a digital camera I could check it out right now. I saw the screen of the camera, and surprised, "Who is this?!" My face looked so serious and scary. It was different from me. SO I said what i wrote now to the clerk. He suggested me to take another one. The next one was not too bad, so we decided to print it out.

4 pictures for $12...It was supposed to be $16 but he gave me discount somehow. I dunno why. I also got pictures that i ordered the other day. I was so happy to get pictures here becuase I know their quality is very nice.

I went back to school after i took picture. It was almost 4 o'clock. In the library i met Chihiro and she gave me a cheesecake which was very delicious and the looking was very neat. She looked my tourism classmate's pictures and laughed so much. lol.

Ahh im so tired although my work was not done yet. The reading break will be over soon!!!

pancakeBy the way i finally get a pancake mix and syrup! They must be so good! I am looking forward to blunch from tomorrow:-)

I missed a lot of due days of entry sheets because i dont have enough time to post the mail to Japan. Also, i just realized that I havent taken photos for resume or entry sheets. Ahh I dont have a suit, i have to buy it???

Well, hopefully i can manage the time and money. I dont think suits in Canada is appropriate for me.

One Year Anniversary

Since I came to Canada, I have been here for one year. On February 22th, I came to Nanaimo. At that time, I was desperated. I dont know why but I just wanted to go home right now in the small bed room of Leigh's house. I really remember the feeling that i had at that time. But it was only a momemt. My life in Canada started very well. I was lucky to have nice host family and Maggie. They treated me very nicely.

I went to Communication II class first. There I met very nice people like Joon, Yoonie, Dany, Aeli, Andrea, Tomomi, Tomoko, Keeryun, Stephanie, Linda, Gabriel,Anna, it was a multicultural class that I have had ever! Korea, Mexico, Guatemala, China, Japan, French Canadian....That was the most interesting class.

Next I took AP5, there i also met a lot of friends. I was happy to have Valerie as a teacher. She is my ideal woman forever. She is just elegant. I learned very basic and important skills in writing in this class. I also enjoyed having nice friends. I miss some of them who already are not in Nanaimo like Chihiro, Yui, Rina, Tom san. The AP5 class was oen of good memories in my mind.

From September finally i became an academic student in the college. First I was scared because all students were Canadians. But i think i got used to it soon. The most memorable thing was a party on Gabriola island. I was so drunken badly. I fell down from the stairs and got some bruces and scars, hahaha. I am not gonna do it, never, ever!

So this is the second semester of Academic studies. I enjoyed sharing First Nations culture on the field trip that I went on lately. This semester is an extension because I was not supposed to be here. I was planning to go home on Dec. 2005. I need to work harder...I try.

Ahh One year is so fast. Time flies.

I love all the people who I have met and supported me. Thank you so much!

If only i had more time to spend in Canada...i can have time to spend with a lot of people outside of school. Yea chihiro, you are right. You should enjoy your time here! but i cant. I hope everything will work well both before i go home and after i arrive in Japan. So far so good.

AND also today is my Father's birthday!!

Happy Birthday my dad!
I just called you now but i am glad to hear that you are doing well.
Please take care of yourself.

Always love,

Your daughter

I wanna go to Potlatch!

I just want to go to Port Alberni to celebrate my friend's daughter's birthday potlach!!!! Its an honor to be invited to go there. Its really really rare for non-Native people to join "Potlatch" which is a very sacred celemony of First Nations people. Ohh, if only i had a ride or a date...hahaha just kidding.I just said what Robyn told me. She said i need to find a date if I wanna join Potlatch. She was teasing me.

Anyways, please take me to Port Alberni somebody!!

SICK AGAIN

After I went back to Nanaimo, I thought that Nanaimo is pretty warmer than Northern parts of Island. So I did not wear clothes warm enough and I think I got sick again! It's not windy here but it's just cold...I dunno why but I have been sick since Feb. 4th and now is Feb. 20th? Oh my goodness. I want to go to see a doctor but I dont have a medical insurance. That's too bad. I am not gonna make it anymore until just before getting on the plane to go home. I asked my friend to bring a medicine tomorrow so I hope that it will work for me.

3rd Day (Feb. 18th) Alert Bay- Port McNeill- Nanaimo

Departure from Alert Bay
This morning I was very sad because I said good bye to Aunty Gloria. I knew that probably I won’t see her again for the rest of my life. She is my grand mother in Canada although it is too impolite to say to her because she is an Elder of Namgis First Nation. She is a person who I cannot reach but I still like her so much. So all of us hugged with her and we departed from Alert Bay around 9:40 am.

2nd Day (Feb. 17th) in Alert Bay

The second day started at Aunty Goloria’s house. We had nice breakfast and coffee here, and we had free time until 3 o’clock. I decided to walk around with Laura and Don because they must know here very well. First, we went to the residential school where Laura used to go for a year. Residential school has a history back to the early 1900s. White people also came to this beautiful, small island where First Nations people had lived peacefully. Then, they took away their lands and changed their social life as well. As a part of their destruction, they forced Aboriginal people to go to school. Look at this picture. This building tells everything that happened in the past. I did not know the background of this school well but when I saw this building, I felt something scary. I did not know why but I think I heard First Nations people’s cry.

My Sunday Life

I got up 10 am and took shower after that. I really wanted to wash my clothes but my owner left their clothes in the washing machine therefore, I couldnt use it. Their clothes are still in it even though it's evening now.
I strated to study at noon after having the late breakfast. Today I had to finish "Annotated Bibliography" of which due day is in three days. It took 5 hoursto be done. I was so exhausted because I did not have break during studying. Since I was hungry, I cooked tonight. Ahh 白菜がめっちゃおいしい。Today's hot pot that i made was chicken, egg and choy's pot based on chicken and miso soup. Eating might be the best pleasure ( or maybe leisure, haha) for me now.

OK, I'm gonna start tourism marketing because mid-term is coming this Wednesday. Ohh shoot, I haven't started yet.

"What was i doing durnig this weekend?"

I come up this question every Sunday evening

TOO MUCH

I think im eating too much. Tonight I cooked by myself and made

中華風白菜と豚肉のあんかけ, お味噌汁、わかめごはん

They were really good and I thought i made too much. However, when i realized, I almost ate all of them by myself. I ate two cups of rice and miso soup for two people...The reason why is that I havent got enough nutrition since I had been sick for several days. I think i was a kind of frustrated, too because my friend asked me to go out for supper tonight but he was not sure about the plan, He was like "well...I dont know what to do" or brabrabra はっきりしてください。If he didnt intend to invite me from the beginning, just dont ask me! I was pretty busy at that time. I couldnt wait for the response (We were chatting on MSN) so I just didnt go.

I have a lot of things to do for the next week. I have mid-term and one assignment. On the weekend Im gonna join the field trip for three days and once im back, I will have to work for volunteer for Global film festival as a server. Ha...its gonna be so so busy Tonight is study night

Foundry

today i went to the pub "foundry" with Rieko! We had hamburger, french fries, and chicken wings! Chicken wings were 20cents per each tonight. Yeah, we wanted to escape from the reality. Everyday is going to school and going home....its goood maybe i cannot spend time like this in Japan but we need refreshment sometimes, right?

By the way... やっぱり わかったことだけど guys suck です。i cannot trust anyone!!! They are not trustworthy.
Valentine's Day? What the hell is that? I am very busy working on multicultural week events. But I wanna make something sweet and Im gonna eat them up by myself

TOEIC and Grade

Last night I went to ex-host father's B.D. party. He invited me and Maggie for his Birthday meal. It was really nice. There I got some mails that arrived before I changed the address ( because I moved out on Dec.31st)
I found Grade from Osaka University of Foreign Studies and TOEIC score!
I took TOEIC on January 14th, 2006.

The good thing is...
大学3回生のとき44単位全部パスしてました

I'm so happy! Now that I know the grade, I found that I just need to take 8 credits for a thesis paper.

By the way I also got the score of TOEIC. It was very 微妙...is it good or bad? It is not bad at all but it is not too good as an international student. まっとにかくビミョー。Anyways I can take it again so never mind.

While I was sleeping because of sickness, there are a lot of assignments piled up...if i imagine, i wanna puke. I need to work on that!

I GOT FLU!!

I have never been so SICK since I came to Canada.
Probably the reason why i got sick is the "student pub" at the college.
My friends and I went to the pub for my birth day party, and 4 of us got sick. We got the same sympton such as high fever, throat ache,....
Ahh is it FOOD POISON??
I am quite not sure...but I named this illness as...

鳥かイカインフルエンザ

Because we ordered "Chicken Wings" and ”カラマリ”(イカを揚げたやつ)
All of us ate these dishes,...間違いない

はぁ正直この4日間もうダメかと思った
