Starting Season 4, the CWL intends to implement a new placement match system that will take place at the beginning of the season. So, why implement placements?
Placement Matches will serve two main purposes:
To rank clans in their league, and thus determine their schedule for the regular season,
To test clans new to the CWL to see if they have the values that CWL expects in its participants, then place them in a league if they qualify.
In Seasons 1-3, following the end of the application period, clans would be either be placed in a league, or they would be rejected from the CWL. Now, clans will either be
Placed in a league (a large majority of returning clans will fall in this category)
Rejected (clans with a reputation of lacking in FP values or lacking in sportsmanship etiquette will fall in this category)
Placed on the Trial list: a list of clans to compete for spots that will be left open in the CWL (clan’s that do not fall in the first two categories should fall in this category)
So, what will be expected of clans during the placement match period? First, clans will be arranging their own wars during this time period, the CWL will not be arranging the wars for them.
If you are a clan that has already been placed in a league you will be expected to:
Complete at least 2 wars against other clans in your league
Either complete 1 additional war against a clan in your league, or a war against a clan that is on the Trial list
Invite clans will most likely be expected to only do wars against clans already accepted to Invite, we do not plan to leave any vacancies in Invite to be filled by clans on the Trial list
If you are a clan that is on the Trial list, you will be expected to:
Complete at least 3 wars against clans either on the Trial list or in the CWL
At least 1 of these wars must be against a Trial Clan
At least 1 of these wars must be against a clan already in a league (we recommend warring against a clan in the league you would like to be accepted into)
Additional Notes
While we will be using master rosters during the placement match period, it will be for the purpose of evaluating a clan’s current roster to make sure they are able to maintain a stable presence in their league, and that they are not housing any players prohibited by the CWL. Account movement will be completely unrestricted and free until the regular season starts.
We encourage everyone to set up all 3 of their matches as soon as their are placed in a league, or placed on the trial list. Don’t wait until the last minute; Clans already in a league will see themselves ranked lower, and clans on the Trial list will be far less likely to be placed in a league at all.
While we would prefer for all clans to set up their own matches during the placement match period, as stated previously, we realize that their may be some issues due to a language barrier, or just poor luck. In the case that you are unable to find the required number of matches, you are welcome to contact the CWL admin team, and we will do our best to assist you.
This document can, and likely will, be edited prior to season 4 start. We encourage you to at least check back shortly before the start of placement matches to make sure you understand the rules and format we will be using.
