"The Interview" may be coming soon to a theater near you after all.
Sony Pictures announced Tuesday it will allow the movie to open in selected theaters on Christmas Day, despite threats and a devastating hacking that the United States blamed on North Korea.
"The President applauds Sony's decision to authorize screenings of the film," White House spokesman Eric Schultz said in a statement.
"As the President made clear, we are a country that believes in free speech, and the right of artistic expression.
The decision made by Sony and participating theaters allows people to make their own choices about the film, and we welcome that outcome."
At a White House news conference last Friday, President Barack Obama called Sony's initial decision to pull the film a "mistake."
