Guerhoan, the Cleric

Thanks to traveler tales from the most distant lands, and from the most ancient of legends. Here is what we know about the great deeds of Guerhoan, the first Cleric.

Guerhoan was sent onto Ganareth by Gothar, the Great, in order to restore order and balance by eliminating the most dangerous Dragons. In order to assist him in his delicate mission, Gothar granted him with extraordinary powers from the magic he had used to create the Moon, the original Mana.

Guerhoan traveled on Ganareth for many years, fighting his own way. Some say he healed and even resurrected many victims of the war against Dragons. From this dark age, many remember the meadows and their many corpses devastated by the Lord Dragon Detharoth¡Çs furious anger. Legend has it that nothing could better describe about his fury and his cruelty than the trail of corpses he left behind him.

On a dark and moonless night, as he walked through the moor, Guerhoan heard muffled groans, and as he walked around a large grove he found Detharoth. Detharoth was lying on the dried grass, covered with his victims¡Ç blood and his own alike, and Guerhoan realized he was wounded. Detharoth had noticed Guerhoan, and was now staring at him. As Guerhoan raised his hands to the sky and called for Gothar¡Çs power in order to put an end to the Dragon¡Çs life, their eyes met. Guerhoan cast such a powerful spell that the sky in the region was illuminated. When the first light of dawn appeared, the legend says the Dragon woke up, all his wounds were healed, and he stared at Guerhoan for a while as he slept near him.

After this episode, nobody ever heard about Lord Dragon Detharoth, for nobody knows what happened to him afterwards.
When Guerhoan woke up, he found shining scales nearby and made a coat out of them. Guerhoan¡Çs famous coat is rumored to grant its wearer with the ability to resurrect the dead and cure the living without using any mana energy. Some often say that if an experienced cleric wears this coat, he is able to use attacks that can be as powerful as the one that was used against Detharoth.

When the time had come, Guerhoan gave all his knowledge to his disciples. These people worshiped him without any reservations and built temples in his honour. Some say that his armour and many of his most powerful healing spells are protected in the very heart of those temples where people often go to get cured

Cleric specificities

Note: This description doesn¡Çt aim at replacing the game manual, and doesn¡Çt include all information. This text is for information purposes.

The Cleric class, as taught by the Immortal Guerhoan, is what healers naturally aim at, although they may also specialize as Monks, Druids or Enchanters.

Humans, Half-Elves, Wood Elves, High Elves, Dwarves and Gnomes may specialize as a Cleric.

Citizen description: common to all characters. It describes the basic skills related to physical activities (swimming, running, jumping), social activities (trade, languages) and magic (healing, public teleporter useage).).

Healer description: Available from level 5 on, this gives access to Healer base skills: buff spells to increase natural resistances or hit points, healing and mana potions crafting, as well as slingshot use, staff use and shield use.

Cleric description: Available from level 20 on, it is divided in 3 axes related to divine intervention calls, combat against the Undead, and healing.

Divine interventions: The adept is very close to his/her god and calls for his/her help quite often. Spell efficiency is mostly based on the target¡Çs divine faction. The caster puts his/her own divine mark on opponents who follow an enemy divinity, on places and items. This mark may also be used as divine protection, as a teleporter, or to recover from critical situations, if the Cleric is very powerful.

Combat against the Undead: These skills enhance a Cleric¡Çs weapon and shield efficiency against the Undead, and allow him/her to restrict Undead spawns in a certain range around him/her, or to break the spells that link Necromancers and Dark Knights to the Undead they can summon. The most powerful Clerics may turn the Undead into ashes if they come close enough.

Healing: This path is the most common for Clerics. It allows them to cure their allies and to remove their diseases and curses, to restore their hit points and to increase their hit points maximum value. The best healer Clerics are able to heal or bring back to life many people simultaneously.

Equipment: The types of weapons and armour Clerics can use is somewhat restricted. They can wear only cloth, robes and chain-mail. They can only use slingshots and knives as ranged weapons, and one-handed staves and maces as melee weapons. They can also use small and medium shields, as well as magic wands.
