５月に米国や韓国で公開されるハリウッド映画「Ｇｏｄｚｉｌｌａ」のプロモーション用ポスターが、韓国国内で旭日旗のデザインを使用したとして非難を浴び、削除されていたことが分かった。

ワーナー・ブラザーズ・コリアは４月２３日、「今回のポスターについて韓国ファンに深くお詫びする」と謝罪。デザインは「意図したものではない」とした上で、「今後ポスターは韓国だけでなく、ほかの国でも使用しない」と説明した。

船長と機関長は修理は難しいと判断し、鬱陵島に戻ることを決めた。「近い独島には修理施設がないため、鬱陵島に戻るしかなかった」とキム船長は説明した。

エンジン一つで回航しながら、「安全だ。転覆することはない」と１０回ほど放送を繰り返した。しかし不安感のため頭痛を訴えたり、嘔吐する乗客が少なくなかった。波が高くなるにつれ、船酔いする乗客も増えた。
