スポーツスターミーティング in ジャパン
神戸CCM
昨年、第12回CCM、缶コーヒーミーティングが神戸で開催された。無類のスポ好きの私としてはCCMに参加することは大きな望みだったので、私たちは日本行きの切符を手にすることにした。現場の雰囲気を実際に感じるために。
2005年、私はネットで世界のスポーツスターの情報を探しはじめた。手始めに、私のSportzillaのサイト（訳者注 : チャールズさんのスポーツスターはスポーツスター＋ゴジラでスポーツィラと名付けられています）を開設、その後スポーツスター・オーナーズ・ネーデルランド(SON)のクラブとフォーラムを立ち上げた。これにより、世界中のクラブとコンタクトをつれるようになった。もちろん、日本とも。
日本ではスポーツスターはとてもポピュラーで、しかも日本のスポ乗りはハーレービギナーだけじゃない！さらに、スポーツスターの月刊誌まである！これは衝撃だった。
すでに、日本のスポ乗り、Bonやしんのすけと友達になっていたこともあり、日本に行く計画は2008年からどんどん大きくなってきた・・・。
私のパートナーであるモニークは大の旅行好き、そして私はスポを見るのが大好き。ついに2009年9月、CCM!12ツアーが決定！
列車での楽しい旅、美しい街々を巡ったあと、私たちは神戸に着いた。私たちを大歓迎してくれているBonがそこにいた。彼は神戸の街をガイドしてくれた。
その日の夕方、CCMスタッフたちとその日宿泊するホテル（みたいなとこ）で会った。
その日、私たちはスペシャルゲストだった！伝統的な日本式の風呂に入ったあと、すばらしい日本の食事、居心地のよい集い、その夜、"布団"でよく眠ることができた。
翌日はCCM-day。早朝に起床し、朝食後、ミーティング会場へと向かった。
会場ではすべてが準備万端だった。冷たい缶コーヒーが用意され、もちろんきわめて日本的に整然とスポーツスターが駐車されていく ーとても規律正しいー。ホイッスルと合図により、参加者に駐車場所が示される。
多くのバイクが整然と列をなして駐車されている。こんなことオランダでは不可能だ。708台のバイクを並べるなんて！
会場には480台のスポーツスターと100台を超えるビューエル。でも、どんなメーカーのバイクであっても歓迎されていた。このフレンドリーな雰囲気に接して私は思った。これは私たちのオランダでのミーティング、SON-meetingsとそっくりだ！
私といえばまるで狂犬のように写真を撮りまくる観光客って感じで立ち振る舞っていた。会って話さずにはおられないスポ乗りさんたちがたくさん来ていた（男女含めて）。みんな素敵で生き生きしていた。それはみんなのバイクも同じで、本当に美しくさまざまにカスタムされていた。レーサータイプ、ドラッグスタイル、ボバーやチョッパー、ツーリングスタイル、etc・・・
有名どころの”サンダンス”や”トランプ”にもお目にかかれた。さらに見ていて楽しいスペシャルパーツの数々・・・OVERのマフラー、ケイヒンFCRキャブ、カーボン、ベリンガーやロッキード、強化されたブレーキ、バックステップ、オーリンズなどのサス。これら数え切れない私が大好きなスポーツスター用のパーツたち。よかったら、スポーツスターフォーラムでこれらの写真、動画、そして文章を見て欲しい。

このミーティングでモニークと私はみんなから大きな敬意を表された。日本のテレビと雑誌から取材されたのは驚きだった。AM10:00からPM12:00・・・時間はあっという間に過ぎた。12時を過ぎて参加者たちが会場を去り始め、私たちは手を振ったりおじぎをしたりした。礼節としてのおじぎ、これを私たちは学んだ。
会場を掃除したあと、私たちはスタッフとともにレストランでおいしい昼食をとった。そして呑吐ダムへ行き、CCM!12の話を語り合った。
しんのすけは私たちをホテルへ連れて行ってくれた。速くて美しいスポーツスターとフレンドリーな出会い・・・そんな夢を見たように思う。私たちが受け取った多くのプレゼントがその日の部屋を飾っていた。
CCMのあと、広島と長崎に行き、私たちの旅行は大阪で終わることになった。
しんのすけとの再会、そしてスタッフであるみっきとルパン。ちょうど、みっきが雑誌の取材を受けていて、私たちもインタビューを受けた。
しんのすけ、みっき、ルパンは私たちの泊まる"民宿"（伝統的な日本の宿泊施設）まで案内してくれた。
日本での最後の夜・・・この日はとても早く過ぎ去ってしまった。おそらく二度と会うことがない大好きな人たちへさよならを、私たちは言った・・・。
でも幸せなことに、インターネットがあり、互いに雑誌を送りあったり、動画を見たり、パーツをオーダーしたりコンタクトを取り続けることが、私たちはできるんだ。

Sportstermeeting in Japan
CCM Kobe
Last year the 12th CCM, can coffee meeting, was organized in Kobe. For me it was a great wish, as a Sportster-fanatic, to visit this meeting, so we booked a trip to Japan to see this as near as possible.
In 2005 I began with scouting the Sportsterworld on the net. First with my own Sportzillasite and later with starting the Sportster Owners Netherlands club & forum. In that way the contacts with clubs all over the world started, also in Japan. It is striking that the Sportster is very popular in Japan and it isn’t a beginners HD over there! Also there is a special monthly Sportstermagazine!
Because of my Japanese Sportsterfriends Shin (Shinishiro Miyake) and Bon (Takayuki Hayase) the plan grew since 2008 to visit Japan once…
My partner Monique likes to travel a lot and I like to see Sportsters, so finally in september 2009 we planned a tour with the 12th CCM in Kobe as the highlight!
After a very interesting travel by train with lots of beautiful cities and sceneries we arrived in Kobe. There was Bon, who welcomed us very nice and guided us through the City of Kobe. In the evening we booked a nice “hotel” where we met the CCM-staff.
We were treated as special guests!! After a nice traditional Japanese bath, Japanese meal and cozy evening we slept very well on the futons in the sleeping rooms.
Next day was the CCM-day. We stood up very early and after the breakfast we headed to the meeting place.
There everything was made ready; a stand with cold cans of coffee and of course the typically Japanese way of organizing the Sportsterparking: very disciplined. Visitors are shown the way to their parking place by whistles and instructions.
So the motorcycles stood very disciplined in rows. This we never could manage in the Netherlands, 708 motorcycles in rows!!
There were 480 Sporties and more than 100 Buells. Also every mark and model was welcome. This friendly atmosphere I recognized; it was like the SON-meetings!
I behaved like a mad dog, as a photographing tourist. There was a lot to see and to talk with all those fanatic Sportster owners (m/f). Everybody looked nice and colorful. Also the bikes looked like this and I saw the most beautiful creations: racers, dragstylers, bobbers, apes, tourings etc.
Also I saw big names like Sundance and Trampcycles. The special parts were great to see: Over, exhausts, Keihin FCR carbs, carbon, Beringer and Lockheed super brakes, rearsets and ���hlins. Too much to list. Especially the sporty parts I liked. Take a look at our Sportsterforum to find pictures, movies and the story.
Between times Monique and I were honored with homage. It was one big happening, complete with the Japanese television and motorcycle magazines.
Time flies, because the meeting was only from 10.00 till 12.00.
After 12.00 everybody started to leave and we all waved and bowed. This we learned: bowing as politeness!
After that we had to clean the place and we went with the staff to a restaurant for a nice meal. Then we visited a parking place, used as a local meeting place, to talk about the 12th CCM.
Shin brought us to our hotel where we dreamed about fast and beautiful Sportsters and friendly encounters. The presents we received decorated our room for that night.
After the CCM we visited also Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Our journey was finished in Osaka.
There we met Shin again, together with the staff members Miki and Rupin. They had a motorcycle journalist and a photographer with them; we had to be interviewed.
Shin, Miki and Rupin brought us to our Minshuku, a traditional Japanese guesthouse, for our last Japanese night. The evening passed very quickly and we said goodbye to lovely people that we probably will see never again.
But happily there is the Worldwide Web, so we can send each other Magazines, see movies, order special parts and stay in contact with this very special Japanese Sportsterscene.
