雑感その2。帽子再び、と道端 and the streets of Hong Kong!

ついさっき日本に帰国しました。

香港滞在の最後二日は午後から泊まる場所をかえて、香港島の中心から少し東に行ったCauseway Bayという、繁華街というのか、ごちゃごちゃとしたところに泊まりました。ギャラリー周辺のどローカル感が薄れて、観光客や若者が溢れています。

まずは帽子追記。


近辺を数時間ブラブラあるいてるうちに、街の中心ではおしゃれで帽子をかぶっている若者がごくごくわずか（数時間で２、３人くらい）いました！まー言ったん気になるととことん気になる性分なもので。

帽子ばかり気にしていて、目に着いたのはスカーフを巻いた女性達が道端でたむろして、おしゃべりを楽しんでいる姿です。日曜日という事もあって、おそらくメイドや清掃の仕事なんかをやっているのかなという感じの東南アジア移民のムスリム系の女性達が仲間であつまって、おしゃべりしたり情報交換したり、国に送金したり、そういう事をしている感じでした。以前キプロスに行った時も浜辺の一角に移民のメイドさん達が週末になると集まって、おしゃべりしたり、お弁当を食べたりしていたので同じ感じかな、と。

交通量の多い通りでは、歩道と車道が柵で分けられているところもあって、そのコーナーになにかしら人がたむろしていておしゃべりしている姿をちょいちょい見かけました。はじめは何か物売りかなにかかなーと思ってチラチラみていたんですが、どうやらただ単に友達とかとたむろしているだけっぽいんです。レストランはたくさんあるし、ローカルな食堂形式のところもたくさんあるのですが、こっちにきてから一人で本を読んだり、時間を潰せるようなカフェのような場所がほとんど無いので、おそらく店に長居するという感じがあんまり無いのかもしれないなーなどと思ったり。そういうニーズをこの道端のコーナーが代替しているのかな、と想像したりしていました。（完全な想像です。）

Now I am back in Japan.
The last two days in Hong Kong, I moved from the gallery, which is west side from the central, and stayed in a place near Causeway Bay area, which is east from the central of Hong Kong island.

I just walked around for a few hours and noticed much more tourist and young people here. Then I saw about 2 young guy wearing hat! I think it is still not a popular fashion item here. Well once I started looking for a thing, I just cannot stop it....
There are so many ladies on the street today wearing their scarf around their head. I guess they are the cleaning ladies or house worker gathering and chatting, sending money to their families, exchanging information, eating luch box together, etc. I saw a similar sceen on a particular part of a beach in Cyprus. There were also many people just standing around the corner of the street where there are steel fence. First, I thought they are selling something, but I looked at them and realise that they are just talking to each other. Some sits or learn against the steel fence.
Why on street corner??
I don't know the answer, but one thought poped up. Since I got here, I was looking for a place to sit and have a drink and read by myself. All I found was McDonald and the cafeteria in the Hong Kong University. I am sure there are some. But maybe they don't stay in a place just to talk or spend long time by themselves? If you eat, after finishing meal, you go out? I am not really sure if I get this right but I was just imaging this street corner is the place for some people to chat. well, it might be, it might be not. Random thoughts.

I totally agree with you, mamoru!
あ、帽子のくだりではなく…私も何度か香港に行ってるけど、まぁ皆さんよく道端で喋ってはるよね。またその風景が良き香港を作っているんだと思う。新しさと古さと活気と哀愁がある街、香港。私にとっては相当魅力的です。

ずっと昔に香港行ったなぁ。やっぱり暑い夏やったけど帽子のことはぜんぜん記憶にないなぁ。
教会がそこかしこにいっぱいあったのにはちょっと驚いたね。
たまには堺にも顔を出すのかな？
