DSC06838_2It's done!
I was stuck at seaming the shoulders for a week. I gave it several tries, and rested a week. There are cables going up the shoulders, to meet cables from the back, but the seam creates a gap in them. Eventually, I've sewn it close as I could. I got more anxious finishing it than to worry about the look of the seam.

It was a fun project I must say. A challenge, because of the yarn size (I've only used worceted yarn before), with all the front-post-double-crochet to make the cables, and just the counting of the rows!

I did a straight-sided version, 210 chains at the start and came out with a 100cm chest. I thought I was getting a wider chest, but I think the vest looks better fitted. My swatch was perfect, I have no idea what happened.
I also followed the diagram for the number of large cables up to the armpit.
And for the neck line, I had to wing it at times. For the back neck line, to continue the design, I did single crochet rows. In hind sight, I should have curved the corners.

If I were to do a in-the-round project again, I would take Risna's advice and do a back-and-forth. You can tell where you switch from one to the other, and it's not where the straight lines start to criss cross. Or, incorporate the switch line in the design.

The yarn is sock-it-4-me from Elann. I used 8 balls, not including the swatch.
Oh, I didn't attach it as a back pocket as written in the pattern. I'm keeping it for myself, a memento.
