10th wedding anniversary 結婚10周年記念日

Today was our 10th wedding anniversary, so I went hand-in-hand with my wife to see the ballet "Nutcracker" at Boston Opera House.

祝結婚10周年。久々に妻と手をつないでデートしてきました。東京に住んでいる時は毎年この日はミュージカルを見に行っていました。今日は妻がチケットをとってくれたボストンオペラハウスの「くるみ割り人形」のバレーを見てきました。
いい日でした♪

Christmas tree クリスマスツリー

We decorated a Christmas tree. At first, we bought a live fir tree in a fir tree shop. It is the American style to use a live tree for Christmas. The tree was too big to put in our car, so we carried it on the top of our car (this is also the American style). Then we got some ornaments, including a Rapunzel doll which my daughter loved. Finally, we decorated the tree with ornaments.

クリスマスツリーを飾りました。アメリカっぽく、もみの木を買って車で運びました。娘の大好きなラプンツェルの飾りも買っちゃいました♪

Former student かつての教え子

I saw my student in Boston. I was a teacher at Hiroshima University and he was a medical student in those days. Now he is working as a doctor in Japan. His inspiring story gave me a lot of energy. He lifted my spirits.

広島大学でのかつての教え子にボストンで再会しました。今は立派な医師になっており、今後の夢を語ってくれました。かなり元気をもらいました！

Catching a cold 風邪

I caught a nasty cold. Two weeks ago, my son suffered from a runny nose, cough and fever. Then it was passed to my daughter and wife. Fortunately, they were light cold and got well soon. However, my cold was so bad. My body temperature was above 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit). Whenever I have a cold, I get a high fever. I am very sorry about my immune system.

風邪をひきました。２週間前に息子が風邪をひき、娘、妻とうつって最後が僕。幸い３人は軽くすんだのですが、僕のはひどくて４０度まで熱があがりました。風邪をひくといつも高熱が出ます。自分の免疫システムが残念でなりません。。。

Vogel-juku (Harvard Shokason-juku) ボーゲル塾（ハーバード松下村塾）

I was one of the presenters at Vogel-juku. Vogel-juku, or Harvard Shokason-juku is a study group for Japanese people in Boston at Vogel’s house. Mr. Vogel was a professor at Harvard University. We were divided into four groups: global issues, international policy, international economy, and international competitiveness of companies. I am a part of the global issues group.
Today’s theme was “aging.” We had a great discussion thanks to my co-presenters.

今日はボーゲル塾の日でした。ボーゲル塾（別名、ハーバード松下村塾）は、ハーバード名誉教授のボーゲル先生のご自宅でボストンに住む日本人が集まって英語で議論する会です。塾生は地球規模課題、国際政治、国際経済、企業の国際競争力の４つの分科会に分かれます。僕は地球規模課題のグループに属しています。
今日のテーマは「高齢化」です。発表者だったのでドキドキしましたが、共同発表者を含む塾生、およびボーゲル先生のおかげで、非常に有意義なディスカッションを行うことができました。

Cyber Monday サイバーマンデー

I got this shoes at a low price (only $20) on Cyber Monday. I am looking forward to next morning running.

サイバーマンデー（Cyber Monday）の戦利品。60ドルのシューズを20ドルでゲット！サイバーマンデーは、オンライン商品が安くなる日（週）らしいのですが、ブラックフライデーからその週の日曜までに売れ残った品をさらに安く店頭でも売る日のようです。
明日朝のランニングが楽しみです♪

Indoor playground 室内の遊び場

Since today was a rainy day, we went to an indoor playground called “Inside Playground.” Although Boston is a high-property-price area, the fee is cheaper than Japan. I think partly because the building was renovated from an old factory. This idea should be applied in my hometown, Hiroshima.

雨なのでインドアのプレイグラウンドへ。物価の高いボストンですが日本より安い！工場をリノベーションしてるからかなぁ。広島でも応用したいですねー。

Black Friday ブラックフライデー

Black Friday is the day following Thanksgiving Day in the U.S. On that day, many shops have sales. I was able to get an electric hot plate at a low price (only $15!). I can make “Okonomiyaki” more easily from now on!

感謝祭の翌日の金曜日はブラックフライデーと呼ばれ、この日も多くの施設は祝日です。ですが、お店は空いています。日本の元旦セールみたいな感じで、いろんなものが安くなっています。我が家はホットプレートを１５ドルでゲットしました！これでお好み焼きを焼き放題です♪
まずは試しにホットケーキを焼いてみました。いい感じでした〜。
